Pathways to Immigration

Express Entry

Federal Skilled Program

Express Entry is an online immigration system which manages skilled workers applications for permanent residence to Canada under federal and certain provincial economic programs. It is not an immigration program in itself, but a method for selecting the best candidates for Canada’s existing skilled worker immigration programs.

Federal Skilled Trade Program

The program is designed for skilled workers who want to become Permanent Residents based on their qualifications in a specific skilled trade or industry. To be eligible for the Federal Skilled Trades Program, you must meet several requirements. You need to achieve the required language levels: a minimum of CLB 4 in both writing and reading, and CLB 5 in both listening and speaking. In addition, you must have at least two years of full-time work experience in your skilled trade or industry within the five years preceding your application. You are also required to meet the job requirements as outlined in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) for your trade, except in situations where a certificate of qualification is necessary. Furthermore, you must either have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer for at least one year or possess a certificate of qualification from a Canadian provincial, territorial, or federal authority.

While education is not a mandatory requirement for the program, it can improve your ranking in the Express Entry pool. If you have attended school in Canada, you can earn additional points, and if you have studied outside of Canada, you can have your credentials assessed through an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA). Lastly, you must provide proof of funds to demonstrate that you have enough money to support yourself or your family while you search for employment in Canada, unless you already have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.

People with skilled work experience can apply under this program.

Skilled work includes Managerial jobs (skill type 0), Professional jobs (skill level A), Technical jobs and skilled trades (skill level B).

The Six Selection Factors of Federal Skilled Worker Program in Canada are, Age, Education, Work experience, whether you have a valid job offer (arranged employment in Canada), English and/or French language skills, and Adaptability.

These factors are a 100-point base grid that is used to assess the eligibility of the applicant. You  need 67 points to qualify for the program.

If you qualify for the 67 points then it means you are eligible for this program.

Canadian Experience Class

This program is designed for individuals with skilled work experience in Canada, including temporary foreign workers and foreign graduates who have qualifying Canadian experience. To be eligible, you must meet certain requisites. For the language requirement, you need to achieve the minimum language level: Canadian Language Benchmark 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs, or Canadian Language Benchmark 5 for NOC B jobs. There is no formal education requirement for the Canadian Experience Class; however, to improve your ranking in the Express Entry pool for immigration purposes, you can earn additional points in two ways. If you attended school in Canada, you may receive points for obtaining a certificate, diploma, or degree from a Canadian secondary institution (high school) or post-secondary institution. Alternatively, if you have foreign education, you can gain points by having your completed foreign credential assessed with an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from a designated organization, which confirms that your education is equivalent to a completed certificate, diploma, or degree from a Canadian secondary or post-secondary institution.
